FAQ's

What is acupuncture, and how does it work?

Acupuncture is a time-tested healing practice that involves gently inserting very fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body. These points stimulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and balance the flow of energy—also known as Qi (Chi)—throughout the body. By supporting your body’s natural healing mechanisms, acupuncture promotes physical, emotional, and energetic balance.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients are pleasantly surprised to find that acupuncture is virtually painless. The needles are extremely thin—about the width of a human hair. You may feel a mild tingling, warmth, or gentle sensation at the point of insertion, followed by a deep sense of relaxation. Many people even fall asleep during treatment!

What conditions can acupuncture help with?

Acupuncture can benefit a wide range of health concerns, including:

  1. Chronic pain (neck, back, shoulder, joint)
  2. Headaches and migraines
  3. Stress, anxiety, and sleep issues
  4. Digestive disorders
  5. Hormonal and menstrual imbalances
  6. Allergies and immune support
  7. Post-injury and post-surgical recovery

It’s also an excellent way to support overall wellness and prevent illness by keeping your body’s systems balanced.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes! When performed by a licensed practitioner, acupuncture is safe, sterile, and effective. At NJ Natural Health Center, we use only single-use, disposable needles and follow the highest standards of cleanliness and patient care. Side effects are rare and typically mild, such as brief soreness or lightheadedness after treatment.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, how long you’ve had it, and your body’s response to treatment. Some patients notice improvement right away, while others need a series of treatments for lasting results. During your first visit, your practitioner will create a personalized care plan tailored to your specific needs and goals.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first visit includes a detailed health consultation, pulse and tongue assessment, AcuGraph Digital Meridian Energy Scan, and a gentle acupuncture session. You’ll have time to ask questions, discuss your goals, and relax. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and plan for about 90–120 minutes for your initial appointment.

Can acupuncture be combined with other therapies?

Absolutely. Acupuncture complements many other holistic and medical treatments, including chiropractic care, herbal medicine, massage therapy, and nutrition. At NJ Natural Health Center, we often integrate these therapies for a comprehensive approach that supports both symptom relief and long-term wellness.

What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a natural, hands-on approach to improving your body’s alignment, mobility, and nervous system function. Chiropractors use gentle adjustments to the spine, extremities, and joints to restore proper motion, reduce pain, and support your body’s ability to heal itself.

Does chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most patients report that chiropractic adjustments are comfortable and relieving. You may feel a gentle stretch or a small “pop” during an adjustment, which is normal and safe. Many people notice immediate improvements in mobility and comfort.

What conditions can chiropractic care help?

Chiropractic care is effective for a wide variety of conditions, including:

  1. Back, neck, and shoulder pain
  2. Joint and extremity pain (knees, hips, wrists, etc.)
  3. Headaches and migraines
  4. Sports injuries and postural imbalances
  5. Chronic pain and stiffness
  6. Recovery from old injuries

It’s also a proactive approach to maintaining overall wellness and spinal health.

Is chiropractic safe?

Yes! Chiropractic care is a safe, non-invasive therapy performed by licensed professionals. Adjustments are customized to each patient’s age, condition, and comfort level.

What is an Ionic Foot Bath?

An ionic foot bath is a relaxing wellness service in which your feet are placed in a warm water basin while a specialized device generates a gentle electrical current. This process creates charged particles (ions) in the water.

Many people choose ionic foot baths as part of their self-care routine to support overall relaxation, overall balance, and a sense of well-being. During the session, you may notice the water changing color — this is a natural result of the interaction between the device, the water, and its mineral content.

How often should I use an ionic foot bath?

For general wellness support, we recommend twice a week for 10 weeks and once per week after that period. Frequency may vary depending on your personal goals and how your body responds. We’re happy to help guide you on an appropriate schedule based on your needs.

What type of salt is used in a ionic foot bath?

A small amount of high-quality mineral salt, such as Himalayan salt, is typically added to the water. This helps facilitate the conductivity of the water, allowing the device to operate effectively.

How is an ionic foot bath different from a traditional foot bath?

A traditional foot bath uses warm water for relaxation. An ionic foot bath, on the other hand, uses a device that introduces a gentle electrical current into the water, creating charged particles (ions). This process is intended to support the body’s natural balance and overall wellness experience.

Is an ionic foot bath safe for everyone?

Ionic foot baths are generally well tolerated by many individuals. However, they may not be appropriate for everyone. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, open wounds on your feet, or certain medical conditions, we recommend consulting with a qualified healthcare provider before use.
